Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad
Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad is an eminent economist and environment and climate change expert.
Currently, he is the chairman of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation, the largest rural development organisation in Bangladesh and of Dhaka School of Economics at the University of Dhaka, where, among others subjects, environmental economics is taught at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr Ahmad was the coordinator of Bangladesh Climate Change Negotiation Team at UNFCCC, 2009-2016.
Dr Ahmad served as a coordinating lead/ lead author at Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCCC) for Third and Fourth Assessments and as a member of the Executive Committee of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) under Kyoto Protocol.
Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad has to his credit a large number of publications including on environment, climate change, water resources and energy. His book (jointly with Richard Warrick) - Climate Change and Sea Level Rise: Implications for Bangladesh, published by Kluwer Academic Publishers of the Netherlands in 1996, was the first major publication on Bangladesh concerning climate change.
